Sorta. Back home, there's a special weapon that exists to fight the darkness, and all you really gotta do is beat the heck out of it without going through all ... this.

[ he gestures vaguely to encompass all this game bullshit ]

[not really, because that sounds a little ridiculous? but then he supposes there was a similar solution at home, wasn't there. just not for darkness specifically.]

There was really no need to fight the darkness that existed at home. It simply was, and there were other things that people felt the need to fight. All of this-- it isn't terribly familiar.

[leaberator]

[ he rubs the back of his neck. ]

Yeah, that's about how it is for most people. Light can't exist without darkness, and vice-versa. It's only when the balance is thrown out of whack that there's something to be done about it.

[wagashis]

Was the situation something that affected you? Or are you simply the type who sees that something needs to be done, and chooses to do it?

[he rests his chin in his palm there, watching him curiously.]

I think most people are more motivated when they have some personal stake in things.

[leaberator]

Sounds about right.

Even the ones who are all "do the right thing 'cause someone has to" have been directly impacted by it, though. That's just how things wound up.

[wagashis]

An all-encompassing sort of threat, was it... you really did come prepared for this sort of thing, then.

And is it still unresolved?

Sorta. The most recent threat was dealt with, so we've been in a peaceful lull, but... [ hmmm ] Nothing's ever truly over with that stuff.

Then do you intend to try to put a stop to it from here? Or are you content enough to return to work when the threat returns?

[leaberator]

No way, man. Once I'm back from this place, I'm enjoying my break. You got any idea how long it's been since I could stop for a minute?

[wagashis]

As a matter of fact, I don't-- but I assume the answer is 'long enough'. Possibly 'too long'.

[leaberator]

An eternity. Until I get the call, I'm planning to enjoy myself for as long as I can.

What sort of plans do you have for that time, then? Just taking the chance to relax?

[leaberator]

Yep. Hang out with some friends and take it easy for a while. [ a beat ] Prolly after I sleep for like, three days straight.
