That's... [ he taps at his lip in thought ] Both options check out. If it's the latter... he told me, and later said me not telling when water came up was proof of my... loyalty, or whatever. If it was a test, it sounds a lot like him, to have something ready in case I throw him to the wolves.

It does sound like something he'd do.

He told me he was water because we had a "game" going on in the first week. [one that shess was just hoping he'd forget about but no.] Learn two secrets, the other person would have to reveal a secret of their own. His alignment was his own secret, but every other secret he gave me was a lie in some way.

I had a task to find someone from every branch. I suspected he was lying, so I used him for water and was told it wouldn't work. As soon as I switched him for Swift Wind, it was fine.
