That they got something about how there's "a great darkness in her"? [ the quotation marks are. real. ] And then it turns out when he implied I was right to think he checked you, he was playin' me, so I'm starting to think there's no point in talking to him at all.
Yes, from the way the other person spoke, they only sent me the note but didn't check me.
Hisoka actually directed me towards this week's note recipient [by breaking into his house and harassing miki] though it was unnecessary since they approached me themselves anyway. When I used his "assistance" as a pretext to ask about his involvement, he continued to insist that the person behind the notes simply tells him these things.
[so yeah hisoka's a fuckin liar to at least one person.]
In any case, I did learn a bit more about how their note task goes. Not from him, though.
One of them decides the contents, the other decides the recipient. They swap each week.
So, Hisoka decided the contents of mine while the other selected me. The next week, they wrote the contents and Hisoka apparently sent it to Feral. I don't know what was written, other than that it was apparently "not terrifying".
This week, Hisoka wrote "IV", and in an attempt to minimize damage, the other had it sent to North. She approached me to discuss it because I seemed the least likely to "jump the gun".
[aka least likely to go TIME TO SHANK FOUR BASED ON A SUSPICIOUS NOTE.]
[ ... why are they keeping hisoka alive actually. axel listens to all of this with a clear frown on his face, apparently thinking it over. ]
Why her? When I asked him what he planned to do about it, he implied he wanted to keep her as a voting option for this weekend if we failed to find someone else.
[that's an excellent question tbh. why are they keeping hisoka alive.]
I don't know what their relationship might be, if they have one at all. Perhaps, because they did check her, he just thinks it'd be amusing to potentially incriminate her.
When I asked him what he thought of the note-sender's nature, he said something about how maybe it's not their fault and they're bound by rules. But I wouldn't be surprised if he just likes the chaos.
He pointed out that I'd spoken to her last week. [ because they can see that. and. hisoka is terrible. ] Trying to ask me if we were close and whether I believed she could fight off the darkness.
And he picks Four? I dunno. That feels self-involved, and Hisoka's not stupid. There are more obvious choices. It's a lot more likely messing with me's just a bonus for him.
[ but also like... for real ........ such choices ]
Then, Four was just convenient because they did check her, possibly on the recommendation of the other one, so he can mix in half-truths with his lies.
Maybe. Maybe there is something going on between her and Hisoka and it's just a big coincidence. Or maybe Hisoka's trying to force something out of her partner if she gets accused in trial by some trigger happy people.
[ people called him a wildcard in the organization, but ... clearly, they had not experienced the true wild card? though that train of thought does give him an idea. ]
... He's doing everything for his own entertainment. He doesn't want to die, and he thinks dead people are boring, and more than anything else, he loves fighting. It's not anything logical to a normal person, but if we start thinking of it less in a "why would anyone do this" and more in a "what fun does he get out of it", we might start figuring out what he'll do before he does it.
[shess has definitely noticed his love for fighting........]
Yes, that sounds about right.
As for what he gets out of this... well, if people do start accusing Four, then he gets satisfaction in knowing he successfully manipulated them? Perhaps he brought her up with you previously in order to push you in that direction.

Fine. [ he waves that one off ] Sorry to just get down to business, but-- when you talked to the other one, they said Four was cleared, right?

What did Hisoka say?

No.
Although that is a part of what makes him dangerous, unfortunately.
